Our Mission
Healthy School Meals for All Wisconsin (HSM4A WI) is a movement to make school breakfast and lunch available to all Wisconsin K-12 students at no cost. School meals would be treated the same as textbooks, gym equipment, or library books - an important resource to support learning and development.

Why School Meals Matter
When students have access to school meals, they receive the nutrition they need to succeed academically. They engage more in class, perform better on tests, and have fewer behavioral issues.
Community investment in school nutrition programs improves children’s health and educational outcomes, reduces stigma, puts all kids on an equal playing field, saves families time and money, and supports Wisconsin’s workforce, farmers, and local food economies.

Maggie Smith - Holmen School District School Board Member
“We don't see hunger on a student, but we know it's out there. We know it's a pervasive problem and I think that we have the ability to find solutions to it.”

Jordan Anderson - Center Wisconsin Community Member
“It's about feeding our children and making sure they have a bright future"

Anita Garett - Parent, Grandparent, and Food Leaders Lab Ambassador
“My mother was a single mother with five kids and there was many times I went to bed hungry. I didn't get the proper education that I needed because I was so busy, worried about getting fed. I don't want the kids to go through what I went through.”

Caitlin Harrison - Elmbrook School District Food Nutrition Director
“We want to invest in our kids and I don't know how else you can properly and more efficiently invest in the state than in our children.”
